Ms. Dyer Chief Master Sergeant Promotion
We would like to congratulate Western's Physical Education teacher, Ms. Kelli Dyer, for her recent promotion. Ms. Dyer was promoted to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E9) on Aug. 7, 2022. Chief Master Sergeant is the highest rank an enlisted member can achieve. Chief Dyer currently serves as the 179th Airlift Wing's Human Resource Advisor in charge of airmen development as well as diversity, equity and inclusion training program. She has been in the military for 21 years and is committed to leading and growing airmen. The staff at Western Elementary would like to celebrate Chief Dyer's achievement and success. Central and Western Spellabration
3rd grade students from Central and Western participated in a "Spell"abration. First place went to Coulter S. and 2nd place went to Owen W. Congratulations to all of Lexington's super spellers!
Mrs. North Kindness Lesson
ππ’π§ππ§ππ¬π¬ ππππ€: Western Elementary teacher, Mrs. North, used toothpaste to illustrate how hard it is to take back unkind words once spoken, by how hard it is to get the toothpaste back in the tube once squeezed out.
Western 1st Grade Coffee Drive
Western 1st graders collected coffee to deliver to 8 different departments of first responders in our area. Coffee will be distributed to OhioHealth, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lexington Fire Department, Lexington Police Department, Mansfield Police Department, Mansfield Fire Department, Galion Fire Department, Galion Police Department, along with cards and letters that the students made for them to show their appreciation!

Winter Wonderland
Students at Western Elementary enjoyed a Winter Wonderland sponsored by the Lexington PTO. Special thanks to the many volunteer parents and the Mansfield Area YMCA. Our Lex PTO is THE BEST!
Western Friendsgiving
Western Elementary first graders had their annual Friendsgiving feast. Everyone had a great time. Thank you to the first grade teachers and volunteer parents for making this fun and meaningful event possible.
Veterans' Day Program
Western and Central Elementary third grade students had their second annual combined Veterans' Day Program. The program was awesome and the kids performed to a packed house. God Bless the USA!
Western Kindness Rocks
Western third graders have been working hard this past grading period studying rocks, minerals and soil. In addition, they have been talking about and learning what it takes to be kind, treat others as they would like to be treated and how to spread kindness. One project was to paint kindness rocks and hide them throughout the playground area for others to find and re-hide for others to find and re-hide. Our third grader students and teachers ROCK!

Western First Grader Wins National Book It! Contest
Congratulations Patrick S., current first grader at Western Elementary, winner of the nationwide Book It! contest sponsored by Pizza Hut. Patrick read more than 8 books each month of the last school year despite only being in Kindergarten. For his efforts, Patrick was named the national winner and received a $10,000 college scholarship, paid for by Pizza Hut. As an added bonus, all of Western students got to celebrate with a pizza party!
Safety Day

Economics Assembly Line Project
Mrs. Hughes' Third Grade class learned all aspects of an assembly line; including production, advertising and shipping and delivered their boxed up products to Second Grade students.

Western Students of the Month
We are so proud of these students for being exceptional Minutemen by showing their pride in academic and character achievement. These students are the fourth receivers of Student of the Month for the 2018-2019 school year at Western Elementary.
Western Animal Shelter Donations
Mrs. North's second grade class at Western Elementary collected and delivered their "giving" goods to the Animal Shelter. The students loved the idea of doing a service project to help the animals waiting to be adopted.
