Ashbrook Luncheon
On November 15th, Mr. Kathrein and a small group of Lexington students attended a panel discussion on local government at Ashland University. Mayors from Mansfield, Ashland, Barberton, and Cuyahoga Falls answered a series of questions about local governments. The discussion focused on local government structure and how problems are solved within that structure. Students Present Veterans Day Projects

Seniors Honored by Rotary Club
Four seniors from Lexington HS were recently honored by the Rotary Club at a luncheon held at Kingwood Center. Sam M., Noah E., Makenna A., and Ivan P. are at the top of their class academically and doing so many positive things outside the classroom. While at the luncheon, they listened to a guest speaker from Wayfinders and had an opportunity to meet with area business leaders.
OCC Student Leadership Council
Student-athletes from the Lex Leadership Council met with other OCC schools at Ashland High School to learn about leadership and discuss ideas of how to lead in our schools and communities!
Noah E. National Merit Semifinalist
We are very pleased to announce that senior Noah E. is a Semifinalist in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program and has the opportunity to continue in the National Merit Scholarship competition. The names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists were released this month. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships offered next spring. Noah will be competing to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Congratulations Noah and best of luck!
Ohio's Youth and Government Ashbrook Visit
The Lexington High School delegation to Ohio's Youth and Government was invited by the Ashbrook Center to participate in their Major Issues Lecture Series. The speaker was Ohio Attorney General, David Yost, who spoke about the U.S. Constitution and the administrative state. It was an amazing opportunity for our students!

High School Spanish Review Game
Lexington High School students in Mrs. Santamaría's Spanish II class had fun playing a review game similar to Rock, Paper, Scissors called Uno, Dos, Tres, Ya! It was a great way to get back into the swing of learning.
Senior Sunrise Breakfast
Embracing their 'Last First Day' in style! Lexington High School’s amazing seniors arrived 90 minutes early to take part in Senior Sunrise, marking the start of their final year. Pancakes, sausage, eggs and fun followed. Have a great senior year, Minutemen!
HS BioClub Visit to Central Elementary
Mrs. Conover took members of the BioClub on a visit to Central Elementary. They created individual bee awareness bags to teach 90 students the importance of bees and how to protect them. First graders were taught about different types of bees and about how bees are a benefit to the environment. BioClub members also helped each student plant flower seeds to attract bees.
Katie H. Receives Diploma
Congratulations to Katie H. on completing the Project Search Program and earning her diploma recently. Lexington High School, Pioneer Career and Technology Center and Ohio Health partner to create internships and opportunities for students through this program. Best of Luck Katie!
Student Council Sponsored Mental Wellness Fair
Agencies and community groups gathered with student-created games and student displays as students navigated through the Student Council-sponsored Mental Wellness Fair at Lexington high school. The Mental Wellness Fair was created to help students learn about Mental health issues, explore resources available in our community, and learn more about taking care of their own mental wellness, as it debunked the stigma of mental health issues.
Garett C. 3D Printing Projects
"Garett C. has been putting his artistic skills to good use creating assistive devices for Students at LHS. Utilizing Rhino in Digital Art, he has been designing and 3D printing everything from Braille boards, to personalized joysticks for motorized chairs. Garett has been so enthusiastic about creating these assistive devices that he has downloaded and learned different cad softwares as well as purchased his own 3D printer to be able to work at home." - Austin Javurek, LHS Teacher
"Garett has been a tremendous asset to our classroom this year. He brightens each of the student's day and they really look forward to him coming to our class or going to the gym with them. He has gone above and beyond for each of them in their own special ways. Garett has made a special gear shift for one student’s chair, an adaptation to another student’s cane to help with mobility around the school, a stencil for a student to work on his name is working on finishing up a braille board for a student to help learn letters and words have better access to her surroundings, and has daily weather discussions with another. Recently he let us know that he was looking to change his major in school and become an Intervention Specialist, which is a great idea and all of the students that get a chance to work with him will enjoy a great experience and have fun along the way." - Todd Golownia, LHS Teacher
LHS Youth and Government Program
Lexington High School students participated in the Youth and Government program in Columbus, Ohio. The Lexington Delegation introduced legislation to the Youth Assembly on March 23rd and March 24th. Nearly 200 students from across the state debated important issues. Darcie R. was selected as the The Most Outstanding Chairperson and was also selected to represent Ohio at the Conference On National Affairs (CONA) this summer in North Carolina. The Lexington Students were Darcie R, Lily F, Chloe D, Maddie H, Alex M, JayByx M, Jacob H, and Garrett M.
2023 Franklin B. Walter Scholarship

Congratulations to Ava N. and Wyatt M. who qualified and performed with the Ohio All State Orchestra in Columbus on February 3rd.
BIO 1080 'Life in the Sea' students learning about stingrays
Mrs. Conover took a group of nearly 40 students to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium earlier this week. All of these students are 'dual enrolled' in Mrs. Conover's 'Life in the Sea' class at Lexington High School and Bowling Green State University. This is one of many college level classes taught at Lexington High School via the college credit plus program. Students can earn up to 36 college credit hours by enrolling in courses taught by our exceptional teaching staff.
