Lexington students joined Richland Newhope at Lex Lanes for the 5th Annual Bowling Awareness Event! Middle school students teamed up with county leaders for a fun and meaningful day. Congratulations to Mayor Brenkus of Bellville and Lexington students for taking 1st place!

Mr. Dewey's Robotic Classes
A new semester means new robots in the STEM Lab! Under Mr. Dewey’s guidance, 8th-grade students have been busy building Vex IQ base bots to tackle their first STEM challenge: navigating an obstacle course. They were all excellent bot navigators!
Junior High PBIS

Junior High Science Density Activity
Mr. Hoover and Mrs. Roseberry's science classes are making waves in their investigations! They're diving into the density differences of hot vs. cold water and discovering how salinity impacts water density. Learning science one drop at a time!

8th Grade History Club
The Lexington 8th gade history club has been researching a variety of topics in history. They recently watched a movie about the Holocust and are now reading and discussing a book called Resistance by Jennifer Nielsen. The book looks at the Jewish resistance in Europe during World War II.

Mr. Dewey's Math Relay Races
Mr. Dewey's seventh grade math class at the junior high, spent time in the courtyard running math relay races! Students moved objects from one container to another while their partner timed them. Then, they found unit rates and made equivalent rate tables to compare their times.
Minutemen In Action Club
Members of the Minutemen in Action Club at Lexington Junior High visited the first-grade classrooms at Central Elementary to share a coloring book they created about recycling! The book incorporated a history of the Minutemen, while also teaching the importance of recycling. Every student received a copy of the coloring book to take home and each classroom received a recycling bin. What a great way to think globally but act locally!
JH CACY RCSW Grant
The Junior High CACY Team was recently awarded a $500 grant from Richland County Solid Waste for bringing awareness to Reduce, Reuse or Recycle. The CACY Team built a community of outreach for recycling during COVID-19. Through emails, announcements, and consistent follow-up with recycling, the team created best recycling practices for Lexington Junior High while instilling “A sense of caring for the environment” and for each other.

Lexington Junior High students made bookmarks for the 1st through 3rd graders at Central and Western Elementary Schools. The Junior High students discussed community and its importance. Students had to then create a series of bookmarks based on a theme like sports, encouraging quotes, video games, etc. Great work Lex Junior High art students for your hard work and beautiful bookmarks!

Addy W Organized Donation Drive
Addy W. organized a donation drive at our Junior High prior to school being closed. She was able to coordinate with the Domestic Violence Shelter in Mansfield and thanks to all the generous donations from the students and staff at the Junior High, she delivered 25 book bags filled with blankets, socks, games, crafts, books, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes, chapstick, hand sanitizer, deodorant and other items that kids at the Domestic Violence Shelter might want or need. Thank you Addy for your huge heart and all the time and effort you gave to make a difference in the lives of others.
Junior High Robotics Club
A Robotics Club was started at the Junior High last school year. Recently our 8th grade Robotics Team entered their first competition ever and finished second in paired rounds, won the Excellence Award based on their combined score for all three parts of the competition, and qualified to advance to the STATE Robotics competition in March. Congratulations to (left to right) Dylan N., Damien J., Wesley H. and their Advisor/Coach Mrs. Linda Collins! What a great first competition!

Math 8 Scale Projects
Junior High Math 8 students recently concluded their study of transformations, dilations, scale, and scale factor. Some students chose to make a scale model of a famous structure. Students were required to make their model to a matching scale.
