"Save Fred" Activity
Mrs. Coffman’s third-grade students at Central Elementary have been learning the qualities of a good citizen, which include cooperation and building a strong classroom community. During the first week of school, they worked together on the “Save Fred” activity. They had to save a gummy worm who had fallen out of his boat and wasn’t wearing his life jacket. Partners used paper clips to get Fred safely back into his boat and put on his life jacket. It was a worm-derful lesson in cooperation!

First graders were taught about different types of bees and about how bees are a benefit to the environment. BioClub members also helped each student plant flower seeds to attract bees.
JH Art Community Service Project
Ms. Frazier's 8th graders had fun with a community service project for our youngest students. At Western, our elementary students don't like to color with broken crayons. Instead of throwing the broken ones away and opening new packs, the 8th graders began melting them down to create new crayons and giving them to the Preschool and Kindergarten students at LCDC, Western and Central. Attached are just Mrs. Betcher's (Western) Kindergarten class pics. Ms. Frazier loves creating lessons that involve our community! This semester her 7th graders will be creating bookmarks for the 1st graders at Western and Central. Exciting stuff!

Students Participated in Dr Seuss Week
Central Elementary participated in Dr. Seuss Week. The students had such great fun, until it was done (the staff had a great time as well). From Dr. Seuss... "Think and Wonder, Wonder and Think." "The more that you read, the more you will know. The more that you know, the more places you'll go." "You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose."
