The Lexington Board of Education met in regular session in the Robert H. Whitney Performing Arts Center on Monday, May 20, 2024. Mr. Keith Stoner, President, called the meeting to order. Roll was called by the Treasurer.

VISITORS / COMMUNICATIONS / RECOGNITIONS

Mr. Stoner welcomed visitors to the meeting and asked if any visitors would like to be recognized.

Student Representative Report

Student Representative Gracie Masi provided the Board with her final update regarding various activities throughout the district, including athletics, clubs, other student activities, and important upcoming dates. Mr. Stoner presented Gracie with her name plate to keep in remembrance of her time as the Student Representative to the Board of Education, and the entire Board and Administration thanks Gracie and congratulated her on the incredible work and information she provided throughout the school year.

Administrative Report-Athletics

Athletic Director Jeff Eichorn provided the board with an update on the Athletic Department and Athletic accomplishments throughout the year, including the following: • 10 total OCC Championships for 2024-2025 – This included 5 of 10 fall sports, 2 of 7 winter sports, and 3 of 5 spring sports; • All sports Champions- This is the 14th All Sports Championship for Lexington out of 22 years. Lexington earned a total of 118.5 points out of a possible 140 points; • 16 Purple Blankets were earned by students athletes; • 12 OCC Coaches of the Year honors were earned by our coaches and 3 coaches earned District Coach of the Year honors; • Numerous OHSAA Tournament Postseason Accomplishments – including ongoing spring sports yet to be concluded;

• Spring Postseason Event Schedule – Including upcoming baseball, softball, boys tennis, and boys/girls track & field; Mr. Eichorn also thanked the Athletic Booster Club for their continued support of Lexington Athletics, including countless hours running the Athletic concessions, their continued payoff of the track, and awards provided to our athletes, including 19 State Qualifying Plaques this year to date and five 3x4 Awards to out student athletes. Mr. Eichorn also thanks Front and Center Turf for their continued commitment to treat and mow our soccer and football fields to provide our athletes with the best grass surface to compete on during home contests.

Mr. Stoner, Mr. Secrist, Mr. Masi, and the entire Board and Administration in attendance thanked Mr. Eichorn for his love and commitment to Lexington students and the community, noting the time, effort, and energy that he pours into our students does not go unnoticed.

FINANCIAL ITEMS

24-25 Motion by Dr. Gottschling, seconded by Mr. Schuster to approve the following financial items: 1. The minutes from the April meeting were approved.

2. The monthly financial report for April 2025 was presented.

3. Approved the 5-year Financial Forecast for FY25 through FY29.

Mr. Whitesel provided an update of the District’s 5-year Financial Forecast for the FY25 through FY 29. Mr. Whitesel, Mr. Secrist, and the Board discussed the various challenges facing the District, including shifting priorities and uncertainties at the State level, reduced State funding, rising costs, increased student needs, and declining enrollment. This discussion also included the importance of facing these challenges head on to continue to effectively support our students and community.
