The Lexington Board of Education met in regular session in the new High School Auditorium on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Mr. Robert Whitney, President, called the meeting to order. Roll was called by the Treasurer.

VISITORS / COMMUNICATIONS / RECOGNITIONS

Mr. Whitney welcomed visitors to the meeting and asked if any visitors would like to be recognized. Mr. Whitney also made available various communications and publications and thanked the Board and administration for filling his role during his absence.

Student Representative Report

Student Representative, Chloe Dean, provided the Board with an update regarding various activities throughout the District, including athletics, clubs, and other student activities and upcoming important dates.

Admin Update — Curriculum

Curriculum Directors Joy Bowman (PK-6) and Tucker Bacquet, along with High School Principal Jamie Masi and Assistant Principal Ashley Rebillot provided the Board with various updates regarding District-wide and high school curriculum. The Board was provided with updates regarding changes to the law, District test scores, survey results, opportunities from class and curriculum benefitting our students. All presenters were extremely complimentary of the teachers in all departments and grade levels for their dedication and hard work in addressing any challenges that arise. Each presenter also discussed the collaborative efforts that have occurred among the entire administrative team and with building teachers to assist in aligning District-wide curriculum and ensuring vertical alignment and growth as students go from grade to grade.

60-22 Motion by Mr. Schuster, seconded by Mr. Stoner to approve the following financial items: 1. The minutes from the November meeting were approved.

2. The monthly financial report for November 2022 was presented.

3. Approved the Village of Lexington invoices in the amount of $5,846.33 each for September '22 and October '22 STO services.

4. Accepted the donation in the amount of $1,000 from VFW Post 5101.

2023 Board Meetings: The Organizational and Regular January 2023 Board of Education meetings were set for January 11, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.

Substitute List: Approved the revised Lexington substitute list dated November 16, 2022, as presented by MOESC.

OSBA: Approved to join OSBA for calendar year 2023.

Discussion:

I. Mr. Secrist informed the Board that the District newsletter has been completed and will be going out to District residents in the coming days.

2. Mr. Secrist noted that building tours will be provided on the night of December 28th. Tours will be given throughout the day from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

3. Mr. Secrist discussed with the Board the fact that previous Board of Education Meeting room was named by Board resolution the Robert H. Whitney Board Meeting Room with the intent for the name to carry forward to future meeting rooms. Mr. Secrist noted that the majority of future meetings will be held in the new Performing Arts Center and pointed to the support that Mr. Whitney has always given to every aspect of Lexington Schools, including his unwavering support of the arts throughout the District. As such, Mr. Secrist recommended that the Board consider naming the new performing arts center the Robert H. Whitney Performing Arts Center. Mr. Whitney thanked Mr. Secrist and the Board for the kind words but noted that the honor was not necessary.

It is hereby certified that the Lexington Local School District Board of Education, Richland County, Ohio, has sufficient funds to meet the contract agreement, obligation, payment or expenditure for the above, and has in effect for the remainder of the fiscal year and succeeding fiscal year the authorization to levy taxes which, when combined with the estimated revenue from all other sources available to the district at the time of certification, are sufficient to provide operating revenues necessary to enable the district to operate an adequate educational program on all days set forth in its adopted school calendar for the current fiscal year and for a number of days in the succeeding fiscal year equal to the number of day's instruction was or is scheduled for the current fiscal year.
