        Regular Meeting

The Lexington Board of Education met in regular session in the boardroom at 7:24 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017

Mr. Robert Whitney, President, called the meeting to order. Roll was called by the Treasurer. 

Roll Call – Members present: Mr. Jeff Heck, Mr. Rob Schuster, Mr. Keith Stoner, Mrs. Sue Weirich, Mr. Robert Whitney -------5

VISITORS / COMMUNICATIONS / RECOGNITIONS

Mr. Whitney welcomed visitors to the meeting and asked if any visitors would like to be recognized.

Mr. Whitney also made available various publications and mailings.

                         Student Representative Anne Olecki provided an update regarding District Activities, including the following:

• Semester exams are currently ongoing;
• Senior/junior college panel was held last Friday;
• Sophomores have a Veteran’s panel on January 27^th, based
• Class scheduling meetings start at the end of the month and
• The College Credit Plus parent and student meeting is
• The musical cast has been selected and rehearsals have
• Three wrestlers placed at the JC Gorman wrestling tournament;
• Swim and dive OCC championships will be held at Wooster on
• The basketball team is doing well;
• Winter Academic Challenge season is starting and Lexington will
• The Mock Trial District competition is Friday, January 20^th.

FINANCIAL ITEMS  

08-17   Motion by made Mr. Schuster, seconded by Mr. Stoner to approve the following financial items:

               1. The minutes from the December  regular meeting were approved.

2. The monthly financial report for December 2016 was presented.

       3. Approved fiscal year 2018 Tax Budget

  09-17  Motion by Mr. Heck, seconded by Mrs. Weirich to approve the following personnel items:

       Certified: 

               Employment: Approved the employment of the following:

Mary Shreffler - Long term sub, Central, from approximately April 15, 2017 through end of the 2016-2017 school year, $100.00 per day

Salary adjustment: Approved the salary adjustment for Tiffany Perry from ME to ME +10.

Classified:

  Resignation:  Accepted the resignation of Jannie Sorrenti, Food Service, effective December 19, 2016.

              Employment:  Approved the employment of the following pending successful completion of all pre-employment requirements:

Courtney Smith - Food Service sub, effective January 5, 2017

Kyrstin Kentosh - Substitute educational aide

Ashely Whiting - Transporation, sub bus aide, effective January 17, 2017

Other Business:  

Coaching Resignation: Approved the coaching resignation of Viann Watkins as co-Varsity, JV/Freshman cheerleading.

Coaching Recommendations:  Approved the following coaching recommendations for the 2016-2017 school year:

Viann Watkins - Varisty/JV/Freshman cheerleading, effective Noember 6, 2016

Jennifer Moore - High School assistant track

Troy Eichler - JV baseball

Ryan Oliver - Freshman baseball

Darrell Strickler - Volunteer, baseball

Tuition Student: Approved the waiver of tuition for Corey France per Board policy pertaining to a senior whose parent moves out of the district.

School Nurse:  Approved the employment of Connie Homerick as school as school nurse at Central effective Monday, January 9, 2017.

Bus Bids:  Authorized the Treasurer to advertise for up to two new buses.

Certificate Section 5705.412, Ohio Revised Code

It is hereby certified that the Lexington Local School District Board of Education, Richland County, Ohio, has sufficient funds to meet the contract agreement, obligation, payment or expenditure for the above, and has in effect for the remainder of the fiscal year and succeeding fiscal year the authorization to levy taxes which, when combined with the estimated revenue from all other sources available to the district at the time of certification, are sufficient to provide operating revenues necessary to enable the district to operate an adequate educational program on all days set forth in its adopted school calendar for the current fiscal year and for a number of days in the succeeding fiscal year equal to the number of days instruction was or is scheduled for the current fiscal year.
