Regular Meeting

The Lexington Board of Education met in regular session in the boardroom at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.
Mr. Robert Whitney, President, called the meeting to order. Roll was called by the Treasurer.
Roll Call – Members present: Mr. Jeff Heck, Mr. Rob Schuster, Mr. Keith Stoner, Mrs. Sue Weirich, Mr. Robert Whitney -------5
VISITORS / COMMUNICATIONS / RECOGNITIONS
Mr. Whitney welcomed visitors and asked if any visitors would like to be recognized.
Mr. Whitney also made available various publications.
Student Representative Cameron Kindred was unable to attend the meeting but
provided a written report which included the following:
State qualifiers for swimming included Kelsi, Alli, Ashley and Alivia achieving
an 8th place finish and receiving All-Ohio honors; boys' bowling finished the season
with a record of 14-9 with Logan qualifying for district competition;
girls' bowling finished the season with a record of 20-3;
boys' basketball finshed the season at 24-3 and won the league, sectional,
and district titles; spring sports are beginning with some of the first games, matches, and meets
taking place over spring break, girls' treble chorus, symphonic band, and orchestra all moved on to State;
World Lnaguage Week took place the first week of March; Spanish Emersion Day took place on March 5th;
all College Credit Plus student-parent meetings have taken place and
students interested in CCP are now getting forms and applying for colleges;
a blood drive was held on March 8th; Mock Trial finished 3rd in the State;
Nick was the Franklin B. Walter award winner; spring break will be from March 21 through March 25;
Pioneer spring formal takes place at 8 pm on April 9;
and the High School Musical performance will take place on April 15th, 16th, and 17th.
FINANCIAL ITEMS
15-16 Motion by Mrs. Weirich, seconded by Mr. Heck to approve the following financial items:
1. The minutes from the February regular were approved.
2. The monthly financial report for February 2016 was presented.
3. Approved the Ohio SchoolComp Workers' Compensation Group Rating Program for calendar year 2017;
annual fee $3,225 and estimated savings of $18, 178.
4. Approved "Resolution Accepting the Amounts and Rates as Determined by the Budget Commission
and Authorizing the necessary Tax Levies and Certifying Them to the County Auditor".

Coaching Resignation: Accepted the coaching resignation of Mike Hamman, freshman basketball, effective 2-22-16.

Tuition Students: Approved the following new tuition students for the 2016-2017 school year. Tuition waived per the negotiated agreement following a teaching parent:
Wil Godby - Kindergarten, Western Elementary
William Chambers - New, 1st grade at Western
Tessa Them - Kindergarten, Western Elementary
Approved the sale of a District wrestling mat, valued at less than $10,000, and declared that the property is no longer needed for school purposes.
Approved the purchase of up to two (2) 78 passenger school buses from Cardinal Bus sales. Purchase price includes trade-in and extended engine warranty, total cost $189,036 ($94,168 & $94,868)
Approved the proposal from Front & Center Turf to maintain high school football and soccer fields.
Substitute List: Approved the revised Lexington substitute list dated 3/9/16 as presented by MOESC.

Certificate Section 5705.412, Ohio Revised Code
It is hereby certified that the Lexington Local School District Board of Education, Richland County, Ohio, has sufficient funds to meet the contract agreement, obligation, payment or expenditure for the above, and has in effect for the remainder of the fiscal year and succeeding fiscal year the authorization to levy taxes which, when combined with the estimated revenue from all other sources available to the district at the time of certification, are sufficient to provide operating revenues necessary to enable the district to operate an adequate educational program on all days set forth in its adopted school calendar for the current fiscal year and for a number of days in the succeeding fiscal year equal to the number of days instruction was or is scheduled for the current fiscal year.
