Regular Meeting

The Lexington Board of Education met in regular session in the boardroom at 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016.
Mr. Robert Whitney, President, called the meeting to order. Roll was called by the Treasurer.

VISITORS / COMMUNICATIONS / RECOGNITIONS
Mr. Whitney welcomed visitors , new Board member, Mr. Schuster and re-elected Board member, Mr. Stoner
to the meeting and asked if any visitors would like to be recognized.
Mr. Whitney also made available various publications.
Student Representative Cameron Kindred provided an update regarding District activities,
including Senior applications to colleges, Career Day held on December 17th was extremely successful, performances
of the choir and jazz band at the other schools throughout the District, college panel came to speak to junior and seniors,
College Credit Plus students are beginning second semester, boys' basketball now has a record of 12-1,
swimming and diving conference championships will be held Saturday, January 16th at Wooster and
the end of the first semester is Friday, January 15, 2016.
FINANCIAL ITEMS
07-16 Motion by Mr. Heck, seconded by Mr. Stoner to approve the following financial items:
1. The minutes from the December regular meeting were approved.
2. The monthly financial report for December 2015 was presented.
3. Approved fiscal year 2017 Tax Budget

PERSONNEL
08-16 Motion by Mrs. Weirich, seconded by Mr. Schuster to approve the following personnel items:
Certified:
Resignation: Accepted the resignation of Jennifer Dewald, Jr. High English effective January 6, 2016.
Employment: Approved the employment of the following:
Lori Switzer - Long term sub, January 4, 2016 throught approximately January 20, 2016, $100.00 per day
Claudia Ruihley - Assist in administering the DRA tests for the 2015-2016 school year at the substitute teacher pay rate, effective January 12, 2016.
Salary Adjustments: Approved the following salary adjustments for:
Holly Rice - ME + 10 to ME + 20
Dan Studer - BS + 20 to ME
Sally Giefer - ME + 20 to ME + 30
Lisa Zupan - MS to MS + 10
Classified:
Retirement: Accepted the retirement of Brian Bazley, Western custodian, effective December 31, 2015.
Other Business:
Substitute Lists: Approved the revised Lexington substitute list dated 1/13/2016 as presented by MOESC.
Bus Bids: Authorize the Treasurer to advertise for bids for two new buses.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
09-16 Motion by Mr. Heck, seconded by Mrs. Weirich to enter into executive session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official, or the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, official, licensee, or regulated individual requests a public hearing and negotiations.

Discussion
Visitor David Kuhn shared his feeling regarding the hiring of a new varsity girls' soccer coach. Mr. Whitney shared the process involved in the interviewing and hiring of District coaches, including the involvement of the Superintendent, Athletic Director and High School Principal. The Board also shared that interviews are scheduled for this week and that the goal, as always, is to hire the best possible candidate for the position.

Certificate Section 5705.412, Ohio Revised Code
It is hereby certified that the Lexington Local School District Board of Education, Richland County, Ohio, has sufficient funds to meet the contract agreement, obligation, payment or expenditure for the above, and has in effect for the remainder of the fiscal year and succeeding fiscal year the authorization to levy taxes which, when combined with the estimated revenue from all other sources available to the district at the time of certification, are sufficient to provide operating revenues necessary to enable the district to operate an adequate educational program on all days set forth in its adopted school calendar for the current fiscal year and for a number of days in the succeeding fiscal year equal to the number of days instruction was or is scheduled for the current fiscal year.
