USA Pickleball Grant

Ms. Dyer and Mrs. Strang were awarded a grant from USA Pickleball, bringing over $1,200 worth of brand-new equipment to our elementary schools! This exciting opportunity will allow students to be introduced to a fun, engaging sport that promotes teamwork, coordination, and lifelong fitness skills. We’re so grateful for this support and can’t wait to see students enjoying pickleball in PE classes!
High School Leadership Club Volunteers

Western students recently had the pleasure of having high school students from leadership club come volunteer in their classrooms, and they even joined the students for lunch and recess! They were amazing and the students had a blast, especially because they played games with them at recess!
Kindergarten Classrooms Full of Life!

Our kindergarten classrooms are full of life! We are closely watching chick and duck eggs get ready to hatch, observing caterpillars grow and transform into beautiful butterflies, and even learning about wiggly worms up close! Every single day is a new discovery as we explore how living things grow and change. It's hands on science and a whole lot of excitement!
Mental Health and Wellness Fair

Recently, Mrs. Bigley and Student Council Vice President Vynce H. were featured in an interview with WMFD to share details about our upcoming Mental Health & Wellness Fair. This student-led initiative focuses on raising awareness, reducing stigma, and connecting our students with valuable mental health resources in our community. Candling Chicken Eggs

Miss McGowan’s class at Western Elementary has been busy incubating and candling chicken eggs! Students enjoyed observing the eggs and watching the development process up close. What an egg-citing way to learn!
PBIS Glow Party

Mrs. Walters’ class had a blast at the PBIS Glow Party! Students celebrated their positive behavior with music, games, and lots of glowing fun. We’re so proud of them!
The Wild Robot

Kindergarteners at Western Elementary explored technology from the past and present while making connections to "The Wild Robot!" Students had fun learning how technology has changed over time and tying those ideas into the story. What a great way to bring literature and learning together!
Pi Bee Champions

Congratulations to our Pi Bee champions! A big shoutout to the top three students in the Eastern Sixth Grade Pi Bee for their incredible memorization skills: Jackson M. – 120 digits, Grayson W. – 102 digits, Robbie S. – 82 digits An impressive display of focus, determination, and brain power!
Mrs. Winner's Dr. Seuss Week

During the first week of March, Mrs. Winner’s kindergarten class at Western Elementary enjoyed many “Seussical”-styled activities in celebration of Dr. Seuss Week! Students had fun participating in creative activities inspired by Dr. Seuss stories while celebrating the joy of reading.
Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards

On Tuesday, March 10, Iris P. was recognized at the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards Ceremony, where she was introduced by Mr. Saris. As part of the recognition, Iris selected Mr. Stephen Domka as her positive impact person for the meaningful influence he has had on her journey. Also in attendance was Jesse H., a Lexington High School student selected by the Pioneer Career & Technology Center to represent the school at the ceremony. We are proud of these students and the dedication they show both in and out of the classroom!
Ancient Rome Life Size Gladiators

Mrs. Ferguson’s 7th graders took their ancient Rome unit to the next level! To wrap up their learning, students created life-size gladiators—complete with detailed armor and creative designs. This hands-on project brought history to life and showcased both their knowledge and imagination. Amazing work!
Pocket for a Wocket

During Dr. Seuss Week, Mrs. Smith’s second-grade class at Central Elementary got creative while making a “Pocket for a Wocket!” Students practiced their paper-folding skills to create pockets for their wockets, bringing a favorite Dr. Seuss story to life. What a fun way to mix reading, creativity, and hands-on learning!
Race Day Activity

Sixth-grade students in Dr. Berry’s class at Eastern put their problem-solving skills to the test during a Race Day activity focused on composite area problems. Working in teams, students solved math challenges to move their cars along the racetrack and race against other teams. A fun and interactive way to bring math to life!
VEX IQ State Championships

What an incredible two days in Dayton at the VEX IQ State Championships held at the United States Air Force Museum! Our teams represented us with determination, teamwork, and true sportsmanship on a huge stage. Competing among the best in the state is no small accomplishment, and we couldn’t be prouder of how they showed up and supported one another throughout the event. The Zombie Zeroes from Beyond the Grave finished an outstanding 6th place overall! Team Name battled hard and finished 27th in the state! From strategic driving and coding to problem-solving under pressure, these students demonstrated resilience, focus, and heart. Watching them compete in such an inspiring venue made the experience even more special. Congratulations to both teams on an amazing season and a fantastic showing at State! The future is bright for these young engineers!
Mrs. Perry's Inventions

Innovation in action! Students in Mrs. Perry’s class at Central Elementary explored the question, “Where do ideas for inventions come from?” After discussing everyday problems they encounter, students put their creativity to work by designing their own inventions to help solve those challenges. What a great way to practice problem-solving and creative thinking!
Penguins and Polar Bears

Mrs. Noblet's class has been learning about penguins and polar bears and how their blubber helps keep them warm in freezing temperatures. To see how it works, students tried it for themselves! First, they dipped their hands into icy water, it was freezing! Then, with a layer of “blubber” protecting their hands, they were amazed at how much warmth it trapped and how little of the cold they could feel. Such a fun and memorable hands-on experiment!
Multiplication Connect 4

Learning + friendly competition = math fun! Students in Mrs. Remy’s third-grade class at Central practiced their multiplication facts by playing Multiplication Connect 4. Students rolled two dice, multiplied the numbers, and covered the correct answer; the first player to get four in a row won! It was a great way to build math skills while having fun!
2026 Youth and Government Conference

Lexington High School sent 15 students to the 2026 Youth and Government Conference in Columbus, where students from across the state formed a mock government by drafting and debating legislation. All seven of Lexington’s bills passed, including two unanimously. Katya P. was elected Speaker of the House. Ellie H., Jesse H., and Emma B. served as Committee Chairs, with Ellie and Emma also serving as House Clerks; Ellie was Delegation Leader. Jesse H. earned the Service Award and Most Outstanding Representative, and Jenna H. was named Winning Lobbyist.

3rd Grade Spelling Bee

Students at Central Elementary recently competed in the Annual 3rd Grade Spelling Bee. Eleven semi-finalists advanced to the final round, where Colt W. was crowned the 3rd Grade Spelling Bee Champion!
Lexington Public Library Visit

Mrs. Blackstone’s class at Central Elementary takes a monthly walk to the Lexington Public Library! Students loved picking out new books and listening to a story read aloud during their visit. It’s a wonderful way to build a love of reading and connect with our community!
101 Days of School Dalmatian Style

Mrs. Lohr’s second-grade class at Central Elementary celebrated 101 Days of School in true Dalmatian style! Students read fun facts about Dalmatians, played a 101 math dice game, wrote their own 101 Days of School books, and enjoyed a delicious 101-themed snack.
100th Day Glow Party

100 days brighter! Western classrooms celebrated the 100th day of school with fun, hands-on learning activities. Mrs. Edmunds’s and Miss McGowan's classes celebrated by counting and identifying numbers to 100, completing a 100-workout challenge, reading 100 words, and more.
5th Grade Academic Challenge Teams

Congratulations to our outstanding 5th grade Academic Challenge teams! Both earned top 10 finishes across three counties in a highly competitive field of more than 25 teams.

Junior High Robotics Team

Huge congratulations to Tyson E., Corey L., Jacob J., Gabrielle R., and Konnor F. from the Junior High Robotics Team for earning the Teamwork Champion award at the event held at Brookside High School! Led by their coach, Mr. Dewey, this team’s collaboration, communication, and problem-solving truly stood out, and their win secured them a spot at the State Championships in Dayton this March! We are so proud of this team and can’t wait to see what they accomplish next. Way to represent!
Richland County Spelling Bee
