Penguins and Polar Bears

Mrs. Noblet's class has been learning about penguins and polar bears and how their blubber helps keep them warm in freezing temperatures. To see how it works, students tried it for themselves! First, they dipped their hands into icy water, it was freezing! Then, with a layer of “blubber” protecting their hands, they were amazed at how much warmth it trapped and how little of the cold they could feel. Such a fun and memorable hands-on experiment!
Multiplication Connect 4

Learning + friendly competition = math fun! Students in Mrs. Remy’s third-grade class at Central practiced their multiplication facts by playing Multiplication Connect 4. Students rolled two dice, multiplied the numbers, and covered the correct answer; the first player to get four in a row won! It was a great way to build math skills while having fun!
2026 Youth and Government Conference

Lexington High School sent 15 students to the 2026 Youth and Government Conference in Columbus, where students from across the state formed a mock government by drafting and debating legislation. All seven of Lexington’s bills passed, including two unanimously. Katya P. was elected Speaker of the House. Ellie H., Jesse H., and Emma B. served as Committee Chairs, with Ellie and Emma also serving as House Clerks; Ellie was Delegation Leader. Jesse H. earned the Service Award and Most Outstanding Representative, and Jenna H. was named Winning Lobbyist.

3rd Grade Spelling Bee

Students at Central Elementary recently competed in the Annual 3rd Grade Spelling Bee. Eleven semi-finalists advanced to the final round, where Colt W. was crowned the 3rd Grade Spelling Bee Champion!
Lexington Public Library Visit

Mrs. Blackstone’s class at Central Elementary takes a monthly walk to the Lexington Public Library! Students loved picking out new books and listening to a story read aloud during their visit. It’s a wonderful way to build a love of reading and connect with our community!
101 Days of School Dalmatian Style

Mrs. Lohr’s second-grade class at Central Elementary celebrated 101 Days of School in true Dalmatian style! Students read fun facts about Dalmatians, played a 101 math dice game, wrote their own 101 Days of School books, and enjoyed a delicious 101-themed snack.
100th Day Glow Party

100 days brighter! Western classrooms celebrated the 100th day of school with fun, hands-on learning activities. Mrs. Edmunds’s and Miss McGowan's classes celebrated by counting and identifying numbers to 100, completing a 100-workout challenge, reading 100 words, and more.
5th Grade Academic Challenge Teams

Junior High Robotics Team

Huge congratulations to Tyson E., Corey L., Jacob J., Gabrielle R., and Konnor F. from the Junior High Robotics Team for earning the Teamwork Champion award at the event held at Brookside High School! Led by their coach, Mr. Dewey, this team’s collaboration, communication, and problem-solving truly stood out, and their win secured them a spot at the State Championships in Dayton this March! We are so proud of this team and can’t wait to see what they accomplish next. Way to represent!
Richland County Spelling Bee

Sixth Grade Academic Challenge Team

Congratulations to our sixth-grade Academic Challenge team on a strong 2nd-place finish! The team came within three points of first place and defeated the top team in head-to-head competition. Nice work, Jaxon E., Noah B., Violet H., and Ben T.
Texas Roadhouse Fundraiser

What a sweet celebration! Texas Roadhouse recognized the top sellers from Central and Western Elementary for our gift card fundraiser. Top students enjoyed lunch and a visit from Andy the Armadillo, while the two top-selling classes earned a brownie party! Congratulations to all our amazing sellers — your hard work paid off!
Lex Leaders Spread Christmas Joy

Lex Leadership Council spent the day packing gifts for children in our community at the New Store and Crossroads Church! They worked hard to help bring Christmas joy to local families and showed what leadership and service look like in action. We’re proud of their generosity and commitment to giving back this holiday season!
Smarties Stacking Challenge

Ms. Rush's second graders at Central learned about perseverance through the Smarties Stacking Challenge! Using only one hand, they had 20 seconds to stack as many Smarties as possible. With practice, they improved and discovered that persistence helps in all areas of life, including academics!
Cross Country Youth National Championships

Recently, 6th graders Kaylee and Jaxon competed at the Cross Country Youth National Championships and represented Eastern and the state of Ohio with pride! Kaylee placed 51st out of 235 runners with a time of 12:32.3. Jaxon placed 54th out of 262 runners with a time of 11:53.26. What an incredible achievement on a national stage! We’re so proud of their hard work, dedication, and bright futures in running.
Junior High Robotics Team

The Junior High Robotics Team traveled to Highland Middle School recently to compete in the VEX IQ Mix & Match Tournament, and they had an amazing showing! Team Highlights: • Teams placed 4th, 5th, and 12th overall • The team of Audrey I., Bella P., Ben G., Emilia W., Mallory G., and Kameron L. earned 2nd place in the Skills Competition • And bringing home our first-ever robotics award, the Innovative Award, was the team of Corey L., Gabrielle R., Grayson W., Jacob J., Konnor F., and Tyson E. We are so proud of these hardworking students and their incredible teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving. Congratulations, Robotics Team, and good luck at your next competition!
Donuts vs. Muffins

Donuts vs. Muffins! Kindergarten students at Western had a yummy opinion-writing showdown! Students cast their votes for the tastier treat, donuts or muffins, then wrote about their choice and celebrated with a delicious snack. We love seeing our youngest learners practice writing in such a fun and yummy way!
6-7 67th Day of School

Western Elementary had a little fun with numbers as they celebrated 6-7 on the 67th day of school! Students and staff joined in the playful countdown, making it a day full of smiles and school spirit!

Lexington Middle School celebrated the 67th day of school in the only way that made sense… by going FULL 67! If you can’t beat the trend, you lean all the way in, and we absolutely did. We hid 67 “6 & 7s” around the building for students to find and redeem for prizes. We blasted hits from 1967 between class periods (you’re welcome, kids). And yes… we had giant balloons, because why not embrace the chaos? It was peak unhinged 6 7 energy, truly the most on-brand day we’ve had all year, and we loved every minute of it.
Giving Thanks by Giving Back

Lexington High School’s English Department hosted a “Giving Thanks by Giving Back” food drive, and our students showed up in a big way—donating more than 900 food items to support local pantries. Thank you to everyone for your generosity and community spirit!
World Kindness Week

In honor of World Kindness Week, our Western Elementary kindergarteners decided to focus their kindness on real-life heroes—firefighters! They spent the week creating small acts of appreciation to say “thank you” for all they do to keep our community safe.
Decorating Coffee Sleeves

Mrs. Knapp’s class at Western has been learning all about community in their Benchmark Reading unit, and they decided to spread a little joy along the way! Students decorated coffee sleeves for Nickel and Bean, so if you stop in, keep an eye out for these sweet messages and cheerful designs made to brighten someone’s day.
Turkey Trouble Reading Mystery

Mrs. Duffey’s class became detectives this week, diving into the Once Upon a Crime… Turkey Trouble Reading Mystery! Students cracked clues while sharpening their reading, spelling, and vocabulary skills — plus explored character traits, grammar, and cause and effect. What a fun way to learn!
Buckeye Imagination Museum Visit

Our Western Kindergarten classes had a blast visiting The Buckeye Imagination Museum! They explored hands-on exhibits, sparked their creativity, and let their imaginations run wild! From building and creating to pretending and playing, it was a day full of discovery, fun, and laughter.

Eastern Elementary showed their friendship spirit for National Bullying Prevention Month with Be a Buddy, Not a Bully Day! Students and staff dressed like their friends to celebrate kindness, connection, and standing up for one another. Together, we make Eastern a place where everyone belongs!
