Mansfield Noon Optimist Club
Congratulations to Kaylie E., Kylie G., and Darcie R. The Mansfield Noon Optimist Club honored all three students at a dinner just before spring break. Kaylie and Kylie were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements and community involvement. Darcie was also recognized and won an Optimist Scholarship!
Mrs. Betscher's Class Learns about Solar Eclipse
Mrs. Betscher's Kindergarten class at Western Elementary had a blast learning about the Solar Eclipse before spring break! They explored the wonders of this celestial event, sparking curiosity and learning along the way.
Youth in Government Conference
Mr. Kathrein and Mrs. Rice took sixteen students from LHS to participate in the Youth in Government Conference at the Capital last week. This is the seventh year that Lexington has participated in the conference. Over 200 students from around Ohio participated. The students were paired up and they spent the school year preparing bills to present at the State Capitol House on March 21 and March 22, 2024. Darcie R., served as the President of the Senate, and Jacob H., served as a lobbyist. All seven of the Lexington's bills passed the committee phase and were passed in the House and Senate. Two of which were signed into law by the Youth Governor.
Lexington received several top honors for their hard work and dedication to civic involvement. The event culminated in student elections. JayByx M. was elected to serve as the 2025 Youth Governor. Katya P. was elected to be the 2025 Secretary of State. Scott B. was selected as the top Senator. Darcie R. was selected as the top Committee Chair. Jacob H. was selected as the top Lobbyist.
In addition, Darcie R., Scott B., and JayByx M. were chosen to represent Ohio at the Conference on National Affairs this summer, which is held in North Carolina.

35th Annual Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards
Cora P. and her teacher, Diane Eifrid, were celebrated at the 35th Annual Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards Program. Cora was recognized for her outstanding academic achievements in the classroom. She's ranked #1 in her class and chose Mrs. Eifrid as her person of positive impact. Congratulations to both Cora and Mrs. Eifrid!
High School Orchestra Earns Highest Superior Rating
Congratulations to the High School Orchestra for earning the highest superior rating possible at Upper Arlington’s Central Ohio String Festival!
3rd Annual Mock Caldecott Contest
Central Elementary had its 3rd Annual Mock Caldecott Contest! Students and teachers read and evaluated more than 20 picture books, using criteria similar to that of the Caldecott Committee of the American Library Association. Each grade level chose one book for their Mock Caldecott Medal and two Honor books. The discussions and excitement around their new favorite books were truly inspiring!
Logan B. Performed with OMEA All State Band
Congratulations to junior trombonist Logan B. who performed with the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) All-State-Band at the Columbus Convention Center during the annual OMEA Professional Development Conference. Logan was chosen as one of 90 top band students from across the state to be in this competitive honor band in the state of Ohio and is the seventh trombonist from Lexington to be named to the group.
Coding Express by Lego Education
Big thanks to the Richland County Foundation TAP Grant for bringing Coding Express by Lego Education™ to Mrs. Edmunds' kindergarten class! Watching our little coders grow in problem-solving and collaboration was truly phenomenal!
Iris P. Performed With All State Orchestra
Congratulations to Iris P. who performed with the Ohio All State Orchestra in Columbus on Friday, February 2.
Mrs. Benson Receives 3D Printer From IST
Mrs. Benson was recently awarded a 3D printer for her classroom from Integrated Systems Technologies. A link to the full story can be found by clicking here. She won the 3D printer for her unit on "Math and Manufacturing", when she observed the many applications that math could incorporate into manufacturing. Her various lessons created include accuracy with measurements, precision with unit conversions, creating scale models and study nets to develop a 3D model. We look forward to seeing the possibilites of this new technology in the classroom!

Mock Trial Team Impresses Judges
Lexington's mock trial team impressed the judges in the 41st annual competition. Grant M. was selected as the outstanding attorney and Mason G. as the outstanding witness. Other members of the team were attorney Addison V. and witness Lydia S. Great job, team!
Junior High PBIS
Congratulations to Crew H., Kayleigh B., and Kaylie Y. on being elected by the staff for exemplifying our PBIS goals - Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Ready! Also, congratulations to Mr. Brown and Mrs. Roseberry, two staff members that the students voted that exemplified those goals as well. Great job, Minutemen!
OMEA East Central Region Orchestra
Bravo to our talented Lexington High School orchestra students! They showcased their musical talents at the OMEA East Central Region Orchestra on November 19. It was an unforgettable performance! STEM Magnet Activity
The force was with Eastern Elementary’s fourth-grade students as they explored magnetic attraction and matter! They were amazed at the herculean strength that two magnets possessed when attracted to each other!
Mr. Grist Distinguished Educator for Art Education
Mr. Grist won North Central's nomination for the Distinguished Educator for Art Education. North Central consists of the following counties: Ottawa, Sandusky, Erie, Seneca, Huron, Wyandot, Crawford, Richland, Ashland, Marion, Morrow and Knox. Congratulations, Mr. Grist!
World History Guest Speakers
Mr. Morrow’s World History class had several guest speakers visit their class. Thank you to Justin Roseborough, Tech Sergeant retired 179th Airlift Wing, Mr. Steele and Dean Proudfoot, US Navy, Vietnam for coming in and sharing their experiences with our students.
Ashbrook Luncheon
On November 15th, Mr. Kathrein and a small group of Lexington students attended a panel discussion on local government at Ashland University. Mayors from Mansfield, Ashland, Barberton, and Cuyahoga Falls answered a series of questions about local governments. The discussion focused on local government structure and how problems are solved within that structure. Preschoolers Have Been Busy!
Our preschoolers have been very busy! They recently had firefighters come for a visit. They've also had a fall celebration where the children dressed up in costumes and "trick or treated" throughout the building. Finally, the children made a Veteran's Day flag and had a veteran from the Amvet come to the school so we could present it to him. They hung it in their building for all to see!
