Jacob H. submitted this piece, as an 8th grader in 2020, and was just declared a semifinalist in the Endangered Species Coalition 2020 art contest in the grade 6-8 category. This mixed media collage is of the Puerto Rican Sharp-Shinned Hawk. Puerto Rican Sharp-shinned Hawks have been on the U.S. Endangered Species List since 1994. The Endangered Species Coalition’s mission is to stop the human-caused extinction of our nation’s at-risk species, to protect and restore their habitats, to guide these fragile populations along the road to recovery and to educate others how to assist in safeguarding them.
